CG has advised longstanding client Oak Group Holdings on the employment aspects of its acquisition of Exhaust, Tyres and Batteries (ETB).

The acquisition brings the full ETB business—previously owned by Bridgestone—into the Oak Group Holdings portfolio.

As part of the deal, Oak Group, based in Newton-le-Willows, has added two wholesale sites and 52 retail locations across the Midlands, Wales and the South West, further strengthening its geographic reach.

The acquisition will also see the group’s workforce grow from around 450 to approximately 1,000 employees.

CG has worked with Oak Group for around six years and was instructed on this transaction to provide specialist employment law advice throughout the deal.

The team advised on all employment-related matters arising from the acquisition and will continue to support Oak Group on a retained basis following completion, as the business integrates its expanded workforce and operations.

Louise Myers, managing partner at CG, said:

"We are pleased to have supported Oak Group on this important transaction.

"Having worked closely with the business over a number of years, we understand its strategic objectives and were able to provide clear, commercially focused employment advice throughout. We look forward to continuing to support the group as it progresses through its next phase of growth.”

Peter Cross, commercial director at Oak Tyres, added:

"CG’s longstanding understanding of our business, combined with their employment law expertise, made them a natural choice to support us on this acquisition.

"Their advice was clear and pragmatic throughout, and we value their continued support as we move forward.”
