Meet the CG Team
Gillian graduated from Cardiff University in 2012 with a first class honors in Law (LLB) before obtaining a Distinction on the Legal Practice Course at BPP University in 2013.
Gillian was a Paralegal at a DWF Plc for 2 years working in-house with a FTSE 100 insurer client, before securing her training contract with Lancashire firm, Napthens LLP. Gillian qualified as a Solicitor specialising in employment law in 2017.
Following qualification, Gillian worked at top 100 UK law firm, Gateley Plc, for approximately 6 years as part of a Legal 500 Tier 1 team where she worked for large employers, including many household names.
Gillian has sector specialism in retail, healthcare and insurance (amongst others) and provides commercially sound and pragmatic advice to predominantly employers on a wide range of employment and HR matters, including (but not limited to):
· Disciplinaries;
· Grievances;
· Sickness absence management;
· Performance management;
· Discrimination and harassment;
· Equality, diversity and inclusion; and
· Redundancies.
She has extensive experience working with directors and senior executives as part of large corporate transactions drafting and negotiating contractual documents, warranties and indemnities. Gillian has also developed a keen eye for detail through conducting legal due diligence on both acquisitions and investments.
Gillian has a proven track record acting for both claimants and respondents in the Employment Tribunal and her contentious work covers the whole range of Employment Tribunal claims, including unfair dismissal, discrimination and whistleblowing. Her contentious work also includes negotiating exit packages via settlement agreements, often working closely with her corporate colleagues in relation to any leaver provisions for employee shareholders.
Gillian joined CG Professional as a Senior Associate in May 2023 and continues to develop excellent client relationships, providing employment and HR advice with a down to earth approach.
