Heather qualified as an employment law specialist nearly 20 years ago and developed her career in Manchester as part of a Legal 500 Tier 1 team. She joined CG as Partner in November 2020 and is Head of Employment & Immigration.

 

Providing support to clients across a wide range of industries, Heather is truly part of the client’s team being the trusted adviser to C-suite and senior leadership level, advising on more complex HR and workplace issues as well as larger-scale restructuring, organisational change and contentious matters. She builds trusted relationships with those she advises and takes the time to understand each client’s business, people and commercial objectives. Understanding the position of relevant stakeholders and using up-to-date sector knowledge, Heather provides practical and commercial solutions for her clients.

 

Significant experience in drafting, amending and negotiating contractual documentation is a given. Heather also has an impressive track record of achieving results in the Employment Tribunal, including advocating at interim relief, substantive preliminary and final hearings, guiding clients through the process from start to finish with her personable and pragmatic style.

 

Heather relishes delivering interactive and engaging training and legal seminars and is an experienced public speaker often being asked to speak at panel events with topics such as “How does a CPO influence enterprise value through people?”. She works closely with leadership teams and managers to provide practical guidance on employment law and people issues, helping businesses understand not only their legal obligations but how to apply them effectively in the workplace.

 

In 2026, Heather established CG’s dedicated Immigration team, using her expertise in providing specialist support to businesses navigating an increasingly complex immigration landscape. Heather works closely with employers to gain and maintain their sponsor licences, helping them understand and manage their responsibilities as sponsors while continuing to recruit and retain the international talent their businesses need. Heather leads the team in providing end-to-end visa support for employees and individuals across a broad range of business and personal immigration categories, maximising the prospects of a successful outcome.

 

Heather’s employment and immigration practices complement each other particularly well, enabling her to provide joined-up advice to businesses where employment, workforce planning and immigration considerations intersect. This is especially valuable for organisations recruiting internationally, managing sponsored workers or undergoing growth, restructuring or organisational change.

 

Heather has extensive experience in high-value project work, notably involving outsourcing and restructuring, where the focus has been on employee relations, TUPE compliance and managing redundancies. She has also supported clients through sensitive insolvency processes and beyond, which is testament to her position as a trusted legal adviser.
