James is a Senior Associate in the Litigation team at CG Professional, having joined in February 2025. He is a seasoned commercial litigator with a career dedicated to resolving complex disputes across a broad spectrum of sectors. His expertise spans commercial contract disputes, shareholder and partnership conflicts, professional negligence claims, enforcement of restrictive covenants, and defamation and brand protection matters.

James brings strategic insight to niche litigation areas, including security for costs applications and appeal matters, with experience handling cases from the County Court to the Court of Appeal. He is adept at managing large-scale disclosure exercises, leveraging advanced legal technology platforms such as Relativity and other e-disclosure tools. His proficiency in artificial intelligence-assisted review and technology-assisted document analysis enables him to guide clients through complex, multi-issue cases with precision and efficiency.

A strong advocate for alternative dispute resolution, James has successfully engaged in several mediations and is skilled in advising clients on the tactical and commercial benefits of settling disputes outside of court. He provides clear, cost-conscious guidance on ADR strategies, helping clients assess risk and reward to achieve optimal outcomes.

Prior to joining CG, James spent six years at national firm Weightmans in Liverpool and trained at Aaron & Partners LLP in Chester. He holds a distinction in the Legal Practice Course from the University of Law in Chester and earned his law degree from the University of Exeter.
