Jonny joined CG in January 2026 to establish CG’s Data & AI team, having trained and qualified with global law firm DLA Piper in their Intellectual Property and Technology Group. During his time at DLA, Jonny developed a reputation for delivering commercially-focused, pragmatic advice on a wide range of data protection, privacy, and AI matters.

Having also worked within DLA Piper’s in-house data protection team, Jonny understands the importance of ensuring that his advice is concise, user-friendly, and accessible.

Jonny has a depth of experience working collaboratively with business owners, in-house lawyers, risk and compliance specialists, DPOs, IT and cyber security experts, and HR professionals, and adopts a hands-on approach to problem solving.

Jonny has supported clients in a wide range of industries across both the private and public sectors, including professional services, pharmaceuticals, financial services, insurance, retail, and consumer goods amongst others. Jonny has advised clients ranging from start-ups, owner-managed businesses, multinationals, and PLCs. Jonny has experience advising clients in.

Jonny’s day-to-day practice covers support with:

• the development and deployment of data and AI governance programmes and policy frameworks;

• personal data breach and incident response;

• response to data subject rights requests, including DSARs;

• data sharing agreements;

• outsourcing and data processing arrangements;

• legitimising international transfers of personal data and transfer impact assessments;

• data protection and AI impact assessments;

• outsourced DPO services; and

• electronic marketing programmes and deployment of cookies and similar technologies.
