At CG, we’re accelerating our growth with the appointment of a new partner and the launch of a dedicated Data & AI Legal Advisory service — a strategic move that reinforces our commitment to leading the conversation in emerging legal risk and regulation.
Jonny Caldwell joins CG as a partner, bringing deep expertise from his training and qualification at global law firm DLA Piper, where he worked within the Intellectual Property and Technolog
y Group. During his time there, Jonny advised clients on complex data protection, privacy, and technology matters before moving in-house to support DLA Piper’s own data protection operations across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.
The launch of our Data & AI advisory service marks a major milestone in CG’s growth roadmap. As AI adoption continues to scale at pace, many organisations are deploying new technologies without fully understanding the associated legal and regulatory implications. This new workstream is designed to meet that challenge head-on.
Founder and Managing Partner Louise Myers said:
“AI is evolving rapidly, and businesses are already integrating it into their operations — often without a clear view of the legal risks involved. This is an area that demands specialist focus.Bringing Jonny on board and launching our dedicated Data & AI advisory service enables us to deliver highly focused, proactive support in a fast-moving and increasingly complex legal landscape. It reflects our ambition to lead, not follow, when it comes to legal innovation.”
Jonny Caldwell added:
“CG’s decision to invest in a dedicated data and AI offering is a clear statement of intent. It shows real foresight and a strong understanding of what clients need right now.Having worked both in private practice and in-house within an international firm, I’ve seen first-hand how technology often outpaces regulation. I’m looking forward to working with clients to deliver clear, practical advice that helps them manage data protection risk and adopt AI with confidence — while staying compliant and protected.”
Jonny will be based in CG’s Liverpool office, working collaboratively across the firm’s locations and supporting clients nationally and internationally — reflecting the borderless nature of data and AI-related legal challenges.
Louise Myers added:
“This workstream goes beyond traditional data protection advice. It’s designed to give clients specialist, AI-focused guidance that reflects the reality of how quickly this technology is being adopted — often without established policies or settled legal precedent.”
